Quality dental healthcare requires a workforce that continuously evolves in terms of knowledge, skills, critical thinking, and the ability to share experiences scientifically. In line with the increasingly complex development of oral healthcare services, platforms such as scientific symposia are essential for bringing together ideas, findings, innovations, and best practices from diverse professional dental backgrounds.
Recognizing this importance, this series of symposia was initiated through the successful hosting of the 1st Sabah Oral Health Scientific Symposium 2026 in Keningau. As a continuation of this noble effort, the 2nd Sabah Oral Healthcare Scientific Symposium 2027 is now proposed to be organized in Tawau as a step to strengthen the culture of evidence-based practice, research, and knowledge sharing among dental personnel across Sabah.
This edition of the symposium carries the theme “One Vision, One Smile: Advancing Oral Health through Diverse Partnership.” In line with the aspirations of this theme, hosting the event in Tawau will broaden the scope of engagement by inviting strategic partners from various sectors, including public dental services, private dental practitioners, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), higher education institutions, and other relevant collaborative partners.
This approach aims to create a more inclusive, conducive, and collaborative space to strengthen cooperation between the public sector and external stakeholders through scientific communication, expertise sharing, and professional dental development. Through this platform, participants will not only enhance their confidence and skills in presenting their work, but also gain opportunities to expand their professional networks and foster a more comprehensive culture of evidence-based practice.
The synergy generated from these diverse partnerships is expected to serve as a catalyst for more efficient, responsive, and high-impact service innovation toward achieving excellence in oral health for the people of Sabah.
